???: Psst! Hey you!
You: *side-eyeing the shrubbery*
???: Over here!
You: *ignoring it*
???: *huff* C’mon, I’ll make it worth your while.
You: …I’m listening.
???: Okay, see, here’s the thing. I’m Ghessica Borghese, you’ve probably heard of me.
You: Something may have come up.
GB: Right, for the record, at least seven-tenths of it is shameless lies.
You: So you’re NOT an over-zealous, self-aggrandizing know-it-all who basks in the perceived moral superiority of her own judgment?
GB: Is that what people are saying?
You: Among other things.
GB: Eh, haters gonna hate.
You: …
GB: Now c’mon, help me out here. You have to complete a challenge for me anyway, so do me a solid and I’ll call us even.
You: …What is it?
GB: It’s like this. You see, once upon a time, I was allowed access to the Winthrop library for my various investigations. Truly, those were the days. But one thing led to another, and they banned me from the library. Some more things happened, and I got banned from the entire estate. Now, the Winthrops are hosting this year’s gala, and my invitation seems to have been misplaced.
You: A great tragedy.
GB: More than that, a great insult!
You: What do you expect me to do about it?
GB: You’re clearly on your way over to their place. I’m sure they’ve got extra invitations lying around somewhere, you just need to snag one with my band on it. Forge it if you have to! As long as you make it happen, I don’t especially care how.
You: …I don’t suppose I can persuade you to reconsider the merits of this plan?
GB: Don’t be ridiculous. It’s a brilliant plan!
You: *sigh* Right.
