Books I’ve Read

Magical Housekeeping, Tess Whitehurst

I’m really enjoying this book so far. I’m in a hard-core decluttering mood and this is exactly the kind of book that jives with that. Some of it is a bit extreme, even in my current “kill the clutter” mood. But it’s still a fun read.

Some quotes I like:

“Also, you’ve possibly already had the experience of clearing out a bunch of old stuff and feeling an amazing increase in your degree of clarity, ease, energy, and joy. These positive feelings come from things like being able to find exactly the item you’re looking for, being surrounded exclusively by what you enjoy gazing upon, not having the responsibility of caring for and housing a bunch of stuff you don’t especially care for, and opening your closet to see a rack full of clothes that you look great in.”

“The general rule with clutter is, if you don’t love it, or don’t need it, get rid of it it”

“If you’re from a family like mine, the kind that holds on to every book forever no matter what, this might seem like a shocking concept at first, as it did to me. But when you realize how much more space you have, and how much better your house feels when it’s not crammed with every book you’ve ever owned or read, you’ll definitely get used to the idea.”
