Welcome to Fanfiction Friday, your passport into the world of fanfiction! If you like flowers, this week’s AU is the one for you. That’s right, it’s another love-it-or-hate-it AU: the flower shop AU.
As a reminder, if you’re just joining us now, you’ll probably want to pop over to the introductory vocabulary post first, unless you’re already a fanfic veteran.
Last time, we learned about the Coffeeshop AU, which can be a bit of a love-it-or-hate-it AU, but it’s still kind of a fanfic essential either way.
This week, we have joining us a closely-related AU: the Flower Shop AU, which once again, is exactly as it sounds, and offers much of the same meet-cute opportunities that Coffeeshop AU does.
However, Flower Shop AU has two unique features that make it particularly fun.
The first is the language of flowers, which gives authors some opportunities to get creative in sending messages with flower bouquets.
The second is the frequent pairing of this AU with the Tattoo Parlor AU (up next week). For whatever reason, fandom has decided that it likes these two AUs together so much that they practically go together like peanut butter and jelly—probably for the romantic, opposites-attract potential.
